The General Photo Workflow

Get Photos Off Of The Camera

  • Plug the camera into the USB port of the PC
This will automatically copy all new photos to the /media/optio directory.

Check All Usable Optio Photos Into The Repository

You can use the 'Little House' icon, or simply click on the link above.
  • Delete any (and only) obviously erroneous photos.
This means: unintentional pictures of the ground, pictures that are way out of focus, etc. Warning: any photos deleted at this stage will not be recoverable! So when in doubt, do not delete photos at this stage.
Click on the Check_Photos_In Icon. This will give you a preview list, you must hit ENTER to actually do anything.
  • Close the window When SUCCESS appears.
The photos are now checked into the repository and have been moved to the /media/publish directory awaiting potential further actions such as publishing and rotating.
  • It is now safe to delete or modify photos, the original can always be recovered from the repository here:http://svn/svn/media/original (This is password protected)

Check All Usable External Photos Into The Repository

Rotate Any Photos That Need Rotating

This will give you a preview list, you must hit ENTER to actually do anything.
  • Close the window When SUCCESS appears.
The rotate photos have been rotated and moved back to the /media/publish directory. This also flags the photos as needing to be rotated if they are later to be published.
  • The photos in http://svn/svn/media/original will never actually get rotated, only any published version will be rotated, but they will appear elsewhere as described next.

Publish Desired Photos To The WebSite

This will give you a preview list, you must hit ENTER to actually do anything.
  • Close the window When SUCCESS appears.
The published photos are now accessible on our website.

Emailing Photos

  • To email a photo to a friend you can either navigate to (in the browser) the specific size photo you want to edit and save it to you home directory (by right clicking on it) and then mail it, or you can copy the link (by right clicking on it) directly into your email and mail it.
